Default PUG's are anathema to Paragons

So I go to do the Jennur's Horde mission.
I didn't read the write up yet so I decided to join a PUG.
A few people lfg so I start to build the team.

Team ends up :me - P/Mo,three derv all running D/MO, Ele running E/MO and her two heroes
Koss W/ , Dunkoro MO/

We start following the Ele. We get to the third Harbinger and all hell breaks loose. No tactics. People
running from group to group and then the dying starts. I'm trying to Rebirth
a fallen Derv but they just run back into the fray. You can guess what happened next.
Back at the outpost two Dervs and Ele leave.

Instead we pick up 3 W/Mo + Dunkoro/Koss Heroes (note here we are probably already lost)
We get a little further (top of the stairs) when the warriors go into frenzy mode.
Dunkoro can't keep up with damage.
So back at the oupost everyone quits.

I'm sitting there like I know I am not the reason here as I was spamming
Go for the Eyes, Find their Weakness and Song of Restoration.
So I took a minute and read the write up.
Then I assembled my team.

Me P/Mo ,Dunkoro Mo/N -(bone minions and death aura, all other monkish)
Koss W/Mo -(rebirth all other swords),Zhed Ele/ (fire AoE) ,Herta,Aidan, Kihm ,Devona

Since it's not a race I slowly and systematically took out the groups of margonites and
Harbingers. I killed one of the bonus Harbingers and was working my way to the second when the margonite
strike squad arrived. Because I had not taken out one of the patrol groups I was faced with the
strike squad and the patrol group at the same time. So I died but I think I understood.

A little patience and forethought goes a long way.
Unfortunately PUGs can't grasp this idea as they are not together long enough.
Paragon skills almost require a good understanding of the group, the tactics and the goal to be effective.
PUGs rarely use tactics (other than scorched earth).
PUGS also rarely switch their fighting style to mesh with the group.
In both instances we needed long range support/ healing support.
A dedicated W/Mo healer would have helped more than not having two dedicated monks. Sure you can say recruit one but a
PUG is limited to the resources available at that time. If there isn't one to recruit the PUG should adapt.
Few PUGs do.

All in all I love my Paragon. I have alot of fun and solo most mishes. I find PUGs to be necessary evils for harder mishes/masters bonus.

What do you think?

I think you mean Blitzkrieg. Scorched Earth means you leave nothing as you retreat, thus starving the incoming army.

Anyway, you can't hope for much when joining a PUG. I find the best way to run a pug is by monarchy: a leader calls the shots and everyone does what he says. Don't like it? bye. Group fails? We know who's to blame. I advertise like this:
x/x assembling group, I call tactics, guaranteed success(mostly because I know every mission inside and out), just do what I say.

Meh, a bad PuG can really suck, but a good pug is sooooo much more enjoyable than just going through the game with NPCs. Using nothing but heroes/hench can make the game boring fast unfortunately.

Oh, and just a tip Marshall, NEVER put minions on a monk bar. Leave your monk to monking. Not only will the minions from a monk be weak (since a monk can't have 16 death magic), but they will cost the monk a lot of energy both on healing the minions and animating them. Not only that, but putting points into death magic lessens attributes in healing, divine, and/or protection prayers.

As a final note, when doing Jennur's, "Fall Back!" is your friend. Know how to flag heroes, when and how to pull groups and when to fall back to catch patrols.

That's why when I can tell if a PUG is going to be bad (if the group doesn't talk like normal people,) I just go straight spear mastery/leadership. Don't bother trying to support/heal with ANY profession in ANY PUG if they sound ignorant and close minded to any strategies, tactics, etc.

and if you H&H everything (just as if you solo too much) GW gets really old really fast IMHO

I've been playing GW for around 17 months and have PUGed every single mission I have ever done, and mostly because I hate the silence when I'm with H&H. Yes, most PUGs do suck, but having the patience to wait for a good one pays off well. The people can be funny, and they can still rock the house when killing mobs. Also, I have better luck when getting into PUGs, to advertise that I'm a competent player in the first place... sad but true.

Dunkuro as minion master, Very bad idea (for the obvious reasons, but to name one energy management )

Rest I fill up with another Monk (allways have 2) couple of tanks (dervish or warrior) and maybe another Ele/ SS necro. This does the job 90% of the times.

Don't get so down on your paragon, that mission is a little more challenging than usual. It requires a little more team discipline than normal. I was in several different above-average PUGs before I finally completed it.

Honestly in my experience as a monk and a paragon i find that the more i refine my build, the less viable it becomes for pugs. I try and play a supportive paragon and end up with a team that doesnt reflect my synergize with my build at all. I play a prot monk and suddenly i got a team of vow of silence, shadow formers. You get my drift. Even with the ability to "ping" your skills , odds are it wont affect your allies builds, which is a shame, which is a pug..... ah hell i was hoping by i had some advice for you but honestly you can adjust to your hero/henchman build and master a mission alot quicker then you cna devise a jack of all trades pug build.
